The Ghost Unit - Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Somewhere in a remote mountain range in Iceland. 2 men walk through a huge steel door sunk into the side of a mountain. As soon as they step through the doors, a rock enclosure seals the entrance, before the steel door shuts. The General looks at this and grins.

'Not bad' says the General.

The director then leads the General further into the facility. He leads the General to a huge room with screens covering 3 of the 4 walls of the room.

'General this is the war room. Your command post in this facility. Everything you have ever dreamed of is here or can be controlled from here' says the Director.

A sandy haired youngster walks up to the two of them.

'Director everything's ready'

'Thank you Blake.' The director turns to the General 'This is Blake Austin code name Gizmo. He's your in house tech genius. He's the one who put this together. Anything to do with technology and Blake knows it.'

'Thank you sir.'

The General smiles as he takes Blake's outstretched hand and shakes it. 'Blake I would like to put these gizmos to test.'

'Sure General. What would you like?' Enquires Blake.

'I want you to find me a soldier named Trinnean James.'

Blake stares at the General. 'Snake Eyes?'

The General stares back and nods his head. 'You know of him?' He asks Blake.

'I worked with him sir. One of the best officers I've had the priviledge of working with.'

'That's good. You will be getting to work with him a lot more. I expect him to head this group.'

The screens in front of them set ablaze in multiple colors and a photo of a young man comes up. The name Trinnean James flashes on the screen.

'Locate him for me.'

'Sir he has been sent on a special classified mission into Sudan. Current location unknown.'

'Well then let's fly to Sudan and find him.'

'Sir that won't be possible' replies Blake.

The General turns to the director. 'As head of this unit I presume I hv the right to override any other security agencies directives?'

The director nods his head. 'Blake ready the G450  for the General. He's heading to Sudan. Give him the necessary documents. Oh but before that, please initiate the various security procedures with the General.'

The director then turns and walks over to a stationary black hawk parked in the center of the facility. As the director gets in the blades of the chopper start to rotate. The director puts on the headset and signals to the pilot to take off. As the chopper rises the ceiling starts parting and the helicopter shoots out into the sky.

The General turns towards Blake. 'Lead the way lad. Let's get all the formalities done so I can leave.'
Blake leads the General to a lab where the General is taken in through a number of tests from blood test. He is then put to in front of a retina scanner and a his voice is recorded. His hand prints are taken as well. He is then put in front of a weird machine and a flash appears. In a few seconds a small plastic card emerges. Blake takes hold of this transparent plastic strip and hands it over to the General.

The moment the General touches the plastic card, it lights up. A light travels up and down the card and suddenly the top portion of the card has words appearing on it. He looks at it and the writings turn into a circle and a light projects out towards his eye and then disappears.

The card lights up again and the words "General Vladimir Bolchikov Confirmed. Call sign The General." displays across the top of the card.

'What the hell?' exclaims the General.

'That General is your access card. It must be kept with you at all times. It is more than just a card. It is a 2 way communicator' says Blake as he hands a tiny plastic object to the General. 'Put that in your ear' he adds.

'Now General can you hear me?' Blake flicks a switch on a nearby console.

The General puts his right thumb on his card and then replies. 'Yes I can.' He hears himself over a speaker unit. He nods his head approvingly.

The General turns to Blake 'Now time to find Trinnean.'
